International Baccalaureate
The International Baccalaureate, often referred to as IB, is an international organization that provides a framework for quality instruction that sets students up for success throughout school, college, the workforce, and beyond. Students graduating from IB programmes develop skills that enable them to succeed in their chosen path while building intercultural mindedness and respect.
The IB has four distinct programmes ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade:
-
Pre-K through Grade 5: The Primary Years Programme or PYP
-
Grades 6 through 10: The Middle Years Programme or MYP
-
Grades 11 & 12: The Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP)
In the Spring of 2024, Dater High School was authorized as an IB World School to offer the Middle Years Programme for all students grades 7-10. Administrators, Teachers, and Staff are in the process of attending necessary training and enhancing curriculum toward candidacy for the Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme.
The International Baccalaureate framework does not replace Dater’s curriculum, but rather it enhances it. Students continue to learn traditional subjects to meet all state academic content standards.
