Our School
Gilbert A. Dater High School has a tradition of academic achievement to prepare students for success in college and beyond. Dater High School’s diverse and caring student body benefits from a personalized approach to learning led by an experienced and highly trained staff.
Incoming students get the chance to experience Dater High before the academic year begins through a three week Summer Bridge program.
Dater’s unique inquiry-based and concept-driven curriculum exposes students to opportunities that develop international-mindedness, a passion for community service, student ownership of their learning and the skills students need to be successful within and beyond the classroom.
In February of 2024, Dater was authorized as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, joining a global community of educational excellence. Dater currently offers the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for all students in grades 7-10. The IB framework for teaching and learning focuses on the essential skills for building confident and globally focused learners who explore how and why they are learning, which means that students are prepared to be successful in whichever path they choose after high school. An essential focus of the IB’s mission is that all stakeholders in students’ education are “working together to make a better world through education.”
Dater High School offers Advanced Placement (AP) and Career-Technical Education (CTE) programs focused on preparing students for opportunities after graduation, including college, vocational training and employment. Dater’s Culinary Arts Institute gives professional training to students interested in hospitality and culinary careers. Taught by a professional chef and former restaurateur, students work in a commercial kitchen lab to prepare food, learn about kitchen safety and explore their creativity. Dater also has special partnerships with DHL Logistics,
University of Cincinnati Information Technology and a Fire Safety program in partnership with Western Hills University High School.
