Principal Jasmine Madison

I am excited, proud and humbled to serve as Principal at Gilbert A. Dater High School for another school year!  I am proud to announce that in February 2024, Dater High School was accredited as an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, offering the Middle Years Program to all students in grades 7-10.  We aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and compassionate critical thinkers who help to create a better, more peaceful world through international-mindedness.  The International Baccalaureate program aligns perfectly with our school’s mission.

About me:

I’ve had the pleasure of serving in the field of education for over 24 years. I worked at The Children’s Home of Cincinnati for 20 of those years, where I had the opportunity to learn and grow as a teacher and school administrator.  I’ve worked with students ranging in grades Kindergarten through high school with significant behavior and learning challenges. I believe that all students can learn and excel when given the appropriate support and guidance. I bring my skills as a special educator and educational leader to Dater and I will continue to partner with you to increase student engagement and achievement.

On a personal note, I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and, after graduating from high school, I moved here to attend the University of Cincinnati. After earning a bachelor's degree in Sociology, I continued my studies at Mount St. Joseph University, where I earned a masters' degree in Special Education.  I reside in Mt. Airy with my husband and daughter.

I am a proud Girl Scout Leader, and find great reward in empowering girls to be future leaders. In my free time, I enjoy DIY projects, arts & crafts, gardening, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

One of the important aspects of my work here at Dater is collaborating with our school community to improve outcomes for students. You’ll find me in hallways, classrooms, sporting events, and at special activities. I welcome your input and ideas. Our students will always be the primary focus of our work.

Sincerely,
Jasmine Madison
